A Capital Campaign is a critical period within any community’s history. The success of the effort helps to define future activities that will occur over the years to come.  Whether it is the need for additional space, sports programs, religious education programs, school activities, debt reduction, or endowment, all of these activities’ success and growth depend upon the commitment and generosity of the community. Are you ready?

Here are 5 easy ways to determine your readiness.

Case Items: Whether your needs are structural, operational, or programmatic, start putting them down on paper and prioritizing them.

Support:  Gather information from your leadership to determine if they have the same feelings regarding your case list. Have discussions and gain support from leadership and staff before going any further.

Data:  Establish the state of your census and giving history data. If it is lacking, consider a “Sign-Up or E-Mail Sunday” or use volunteers or a service to collect pertinent data including cell numbers and emails.

Funding:  As your case items begin to solidify it is important to define how they will be funded.  Even if you “have money in the bank,” a campaign may still be prudent for you in order to replace those funds.

Process:  Each Arch/Diocese has a different policy and procedure regarding capital campaigns.  Familiarizing yourself with your Arch/Diocesan policy before embarking on a capital effort, can avoid delays and setbacks in your timeline.
